About me

A quick introduction. My name is Tom Minick. In my business life I’ve been an entrepreneur, an operating executive and a consultant with the good fortune to have had the opportunity to work for some of the top technology companies on the planet.

In my personal life I’m a husband, father and weekend athlete with roots in the Chicago suburbs where I grew up as Sox and Blackhawks fan. If you know anything about Chicago you know what that means....we’re the ones who’ve gone to the World Series. I migrated to Silicon Valley with Apple when the Mac was still a mystery to most of the world and the 415 area code covered San Francisco and the entire Peninsula. We now reside in San Francisco fulfilling a long standing dream to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

My profession is Management and my expertise is execution, which means that I make sure things get done. I’ve practiced my profession in the worlds of enterprise software and information systems and enjoy the challenge of solving big problems while making a significant impact on the people and organizations that I serve.

I have held senior management roles at Apple, PeopleSoft and Oracle. I co-founded one of the first consulting companies in the emerging CRM marketplace and have consulted directly with leading technology firms in both advisory and project capacities. Currently I run a boutique advisory firm, Catalyst Advisors, providing advice and project based assistance to technology executives in the Information Systems and Professional Services disciplines.

In my non family spare time I engage in a life long passion for ice hockey being fortunate to not only play a couple of times a week but also serve as an off-ice official for the National Hockey League at SJ Sharks home games.
